L’ultimo Cane Eroe Dell’11 Settembre: Il Saluto Finale Dei Suoi Colleghi È Emozionante
Molti di noi si ricordano ancora molto bene l’11 settembre di 15 anni fa. Allora, dopo il crollo, tantissime persone hanno partecipato alle operazioni di soccorso e, insieme a loro, anche molti cani.
Tra questi cani c’era anche Bretagne, una golden retriever che, all’epoca, aveva quasi due anni e che era venuta insieme alla sua umana, Denise Corliss dal Texas per dare una mano. Denise, che lavorava come un ingegnere elettronico e Bretagne sono arrivate a New York una settimana dopo gli attentati terroristici e hanno contribuito attivamente alle ricerche dei dispersi.
La coppia ha lavorato in turni di 12 ore per 10 giorni insieme con la squadra di ricerca e soccorso Texas Task Force 1. Bretagne è stato uno dei circa 300 cani da lavoro impiegati nelle ricerche dopo il 9 settembre.

Purtroppo, Bretagne ha dovuto essere soppressa il Lunedì scorso (9 giugno), a pochi mesi dal suo 17 ° compleanno. Aveva avuto problemi a camminare per gli ultimi anni. Non poteva più salire le scale a casa ed è aveva una gravissima insufficienza renale.
